First of the month

There's a prayer from the Book of Common Prayer that my dad has always liked:

Almighty and most merciful Father; We have erred, and strayed from Thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against Thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us.
I was thinking of it today, because the first of the month in the Accounts Department means publishing and approving accounts done the preceding two months followed by sending notices to people who have failed to file accounts, inventories, certificates and reports in the preceding months.  So I spent my morning commending those who have done those things they ought to have done, and chastising those who have left undone those things which they ought to have done.

It certainly makes the day go quickly!

Do you get to wear a halo and a pair of half- spectacles over which you can look either benignly or disapprovingly? I mean, the role really calls for a costume.
